Teitur, Jenny Owen Youngs at Bowery Ballroom

Teitur at The Bowery Ballroom

Last night I was at the Bowery Ballroom (after I mistakenly headed to the Hamerstein Ballroom) to see Teitur - the singular named musician from the Faroe Islands who won rave reviews for his 2003 debut album Poetry & Aeroplanes. He has the most interestingly awkward stage presence and I love this quote from John Mayer I found on wikiquotes:

"He's utterly melodic and hopelessly romantic, and when he performs live, he robs the air from your lungs. Oh, and he's devoid of any charisma or star power whatsoever." - John Mayer on why Teitur's career is stalled despite having talent in the same league as Coldplay and David Gray From Mayer's September 1, 2004 column in Esquire magazine.

Jenny Owen Youngs was awesome and also performing was Helgi Hrafn Jonsson (who is picture to the right playing horns for Teitur) and Old Springs Pike who were so inredibly tight with some really stunning three-part harmonies.
